Plagiarism Policy
Komunikan: Jurnal Komunikasi dan Dakwah is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice, including plagiarism.
Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the act of presenting someone else's work, ideas, or words as one's own without proper acknowledgment or citation. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Copying text, data, images, or ideas from other sources without attribution
- Paraphrasing another's work without proper citation
- Self-plagiarism, i.e., reusing significant portions of one's own previously published work without disclosure
Screening Process
All manuscripts submitted to Komunikan: Jurnal Komunikasi dan Dakwah are screened for plagiarism prior to the peer review process. The journal uses plagiarism detection software to check the originality of each manuscript.
The acceptable similarity index for manuscripts submitted to this journal is a maximum of 20%. Manuscripts exceeding this threshold will be:
- Rejected outright if the similarity index is excessively high
- Returned to the author for revision and resubmission if the similarity index is borderline
Author Responsibility
Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality of their submitted manuscripts. By submitting a manuscript to Komunikan, authors confirm that:
- The manuscript is original and has not been published elsewhere
- The manuscript is not under consideration for publication in any other journal
- All sources used in the manuscript have been properly cited and acknowledged
- Any potential conflict of interest has been disclosed
Consequences of Plagiarism
If plagiarism is detected at any stage — before or after publication — the journal will take the following actions:
- Pre-publication: The manuscript will be immediately rejected and the author will be notified
- Post-publication: The article will be retracted and a retraction notice will be published. The author's institution may also be notified
Komunikan: Jurnal Komunikasi dan Dakwah follows the guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in handling all cases of suspected plagiarism.
