Abstract

This research examines the role of the Team Bintang PlayOn Street Mini 4WD community in popularizing recreational sport in Tangerang City. The main problem of this research is the gap between the potential of street mini 4WD as a recreational sport and its actual level of popularity among the public, since the community still faces limited track facilities and low participation from outside the circle of hobbyists. The second problem is that amid the growth of digital entertainment, young people tend to be drawn to instant, screen-based activities, which becomes a distinct challenge for the community in introducing street mini 4WD as an alternative recreational sport that is enjoyable while also carrying educational and social value. This research aims to analyze the application of the Social Cognitive Theory concept within the activities of the Team Bintang PlayOn Street Mini 4WD community, to identify and describe the forms of activity carried out by the community in attracting public interest in street mini 4WD, and to analyze the role of the community in popularizing this recreational sport in Tangerang City. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study method within a constructivist paradigm. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 10 purposively selected informants consisting of the community's core management, active administrators, and visitors, together with field observation and documentation study. Research locations were Benteng Reborn Stadium and the Food Arcade area of Tangcity Mall, Tangerang City. The validity of the data was maintained through source triangulation and methodological triangulation. The results indicate that the community applies the Social Cognitive Theory concept by blending educational and entertainment elements into every activity, realized through weekly runs, Touch and Try sessions, joint practice, street mini 4WD assembly education, internal and external competitions, the Dash Challenge, and the use of social media as a publication medium. Read through Albert Bandura's four stages of attention, retention, reproduction, and motivation, these activities move the public from spectators into active participants. The community therefore plays its role as a medium of promotion, a medium of education, and a space for social interaction, so that street mini 4WD becomes increasingly recognized as a recreational sport that is enjoyable, educational, and accessible to all age groups in Tangerang City.
