Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Manuscripts that do not adhere to the following guidelines will be rejected.

Submitted manuscripts must be original works based on research or community service related to themes in Islamic Economics, and must not have been previously published or accepted for publication in any journal or other publication outlet.

Manuscripts must be written in English language, containing a minimum of 8,000 words and a maximum of 10,000 words, excluding abstract, references, author biodata, and acknowledgments. Submissions that do not comply with this word count will not be considered for review. Each manuscript must include an abstract (150–250 words) and 3–5 keywords. The abstract must follow specific content guidelines***.

All manuscripts must be typed using Microsoft Word (.docx format), single-spaced, Book Antiqua, 12-point font. Page layout must use normal margins (2.54 cm on all sides) and A4 paper size (21 x 29.7 cm).

Manuscript structure should include:

(a) A title of no more than 12 words
(b) Author name(s)
(c) Author affiliation(s)
(d) Author email address
(e) Contact person
(f) Abstract (150–250 words) followed by 3–5 keywords, summarizing the research problem, objectives, methods, concepts, discussion, and findings
(g) Introduction, providing a compelling context, clear and specific objectives, and a concise literature review
(h) Methodology, presented in paragraph form describing the research design, data sources, data collection techniques, and analysis performed
(i) Results and Discussion, explaining data analysis and addressing research questions
(j) Conclusion, which should not merely summarize content but present statements that contribute meaningfully to the field. It may also include recommendations or theoretical insights for future research or related articles
(k) References, which must be up-to-date

Each manuscript must include a minimum of 20 references, with at least 80% from reputable academic journals and the remaining 20% from textbooks, e-books, or credible secondary sources.

References must follow the APA (American Psychological Association) citation style, arranged alphabetically. Authors are encouraged to use reference management tools such as Mendeley.

Figures and tables must include captions that reflect their content and be clearly referenced within the text. Avoid phrases such as "Table below..." or "Figure above...".

Authors are responsible for proofreading their manuscripts to ensure language accuracy before submission. The Editorial Board will not revise manuscripts for style or grammar. (Please refer to the provided manuscript template.)

By submitting a manuscript to Al-Ibar: Journal of Theory and Practice in Islamic Economics, authors affirm that the manuscript is not under review elsewhere, either in electronic or print form. The corresponding author must make this declaration upon submission.

The editorial team reserves the right to distribute accepted manuscripts electronically, while authors retain copyright. Authors wishing to republish the article elsewhere must seek permission from the Editor-in-Chief and acknowledge Al-Ibar: Journal of Theory and Practice in Islamic Economics as the original publisher.

Authors are strongly encouraged to thoroughly review their manuscripts before submission.*

The Editorial Board reserves the right to make editorial changes to accepted manuscripts to improve clarity and style. Endnotes and footnotes are not recommended.

Manuscripts that do not comply with any part of these SUBMISSION GUIDELINES will not be considered for peer review. Please follow the guidelines closely to avoid rejection or resubmission requests. PDF file submissions will not be accepted, as they are not editable during the review process.
