Abstract

This study aims to describe the achievements of the 5S Culture program as strengthening the character education of students at SD Negeri 1 Babakan Madang. This research uses the CIPP model (Context, Input, Process and Product) as a tool for evaluation. This type of research uses a qualitative approach descriptively. Data collection in the evaluation process is observation, interviews, field notes and documentation. Data analysis techniques used in this study are data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. Data sources were obtained from principals, homeroom teachers in grade 2.4 and students in grade 2.4. The results showed that the 5S Culture program as a strengthening of character education has achieved excellent results, and has been implemented by school residents. Among them at the context stage the average achievement in the high category, at the input stage in the high category, at the process stage in the high category and the product stage in the high category. Overall, the 5S Culture program as a strengthening of character education has met the standard criteria, but there are several focuses that need to be improved, including, 1) the Principal to make the Decree of the character education implementation team through 5S Culture clearly and in detail, 2) Educators or teachers to remain committed and improve the application of 5S Cultural values in daily activities at school, 3) Students run character education programs through 5S Culture that are implemented by the school well and actively participate, 4) Parents synergize with the school by paying special attention to children at home, by educating and fostering children through habituation of good behavior and attitudes in daily life.
